Person Filters
Person Filters allow you to select which people (board members and management team members) you would like to include or exclude in your map according to the different person attributes explained below. The Person Filter pop-up window is opened by clicking on the 'Person' Filters link found on the Taskbar alongside the 'Investor' and 'Company' Filter links.

You can include multiple numbers separated by commas, or use ranges in all of the numeric fields by using a dash [-]. For example, in "# of Boards" you can enter [3-5] to limit the results to people on 3, 4, or 5 boards. To leave a range open ended, just leave that end of the range blank. So [3-] would allow only people with 3 or more boards, and [-4, 7] would allow only people with exactly 7 OR 4 or fewer boards.

Board Type - outside, advisory, or observer
There are 3 types of board relationships: outside, advisory, and observer. You can select any combination of these board relationship types to be shown. Uncheck whichever you would like to exclude from the map and then click on the 'Apply' button. By default, when board members are shown in a map, all three types are shown.

Board Status - current or former
Board members' status can be either 'current' or 'former.' Current means that the person is currently serving as a board member for the company they are linked to. Former means that the person served as a board member in the past for the company they are linked to, but does not currently sit on the board. These two types of connection status are shown by different colored links, and on the maps and the map legend you can see that 'Former' board connections are in a faded, lighter, color than the current ones.

You can choose to include or exclude board members in the map based on whether they are connected by current or former relationships. Please note that different map tabs may have different defaults for whether the 'Former' board connections are included. For example, the Relational Tab does not include 'Former' connections, but the People Tab does. If you ever want to check to see what is currently included, you can open the Person Filters pop-up window to see what the current settings are.

Management Status - current or former
Management Team members' status can be either 'current' or 'former.' Current means that the person is currently serving on the management team for the company they are linked to. Former means that the person served on the management team in the past for the company they are linked to, but does not still hold that postition. These two types of connection status are shown by different colored links, and on the maps and the map legend you can see that 'Former' management team connections are in a faded, lighter, color than the current ones.

You can choose to include or exclude management team members in the map based on whether they are connected by current or former relationship. Please note that different map tabs may have different defaults for whether the 'Former' management team connections are included. For example, the Relational Tab does not include 'Former' connections, but the People Tab does. If you ever want to check to see what is currently included, you can open the Person Filters pop-up window to see what the current settings are.

Management Title - ceo, cfo, vp, etc.
You can enter in one or more management title abbreviations into this field (if more than one, then separate with commas) in order to filter out any board or management team members who do not currently, or have not previously held those titles. If you enter [ceo] and click on the 'Apply' button, the new map will only display people who are currently, or previously have been CEOs. If you enter [ceo, vp] and click on the 'Apply' button, the new map will only display people who are currently, or have previously held the title of CEO or VP.

Number of Boards - total company boards served on
You can use this field to filter your maps according to the total number of boards a person has served on. This does not account for how many are active board positions and how many are former positions that are no longer active, but you can address that using the "Number of Current Boards" field below. This is a numerical field, so you can use commas to select different numbers, and dashes to create ranges.

For example:
[3] - Display only people with exactly 3 total board positions
[1-4] - Display only people with 1 through 4 total board positions
[-5, 7] - Display only people 5 or fewer, or exactly 7 total board positions

Number of Current Boards - currently sitting on
You can use this field to filter your maps according to the number of current boards a person is sitting on. This is a numerical field, so you can use commas to select different numbers, and dashes to create ranges.

For example:
[7-] - Display only people with 7 or more current board positions
[-4] - Display only people with 4 or fewer current board positions
[5, 7] - Display only people with exactly 5 or exactly 7 current board positions

Remember these settings - to apply to other maps
If you have applied settings that you would like to use repeatedly as you look at different networks in LinkSViewer you can check this box and click on the 'Apply' button. This will apply your settings to all maps you visit where the settings are applicable, otherwise, settings may return to their default states when you move to a new network.
