The Person Filters allow you to select which Person nodes you would like to include or exclude from your network according to many different attributes. Along with the Company Filters and Investor Filters, these tools allow you to construct networks to address the specific questions and interests you have about a network of relationships. The Person Filters are located on the taskbar above the map image and below the map tabs. In the image below, the Person Filters link is highlighted with a red box. Click on that link and the Person Filters screen will pop up.

Once the Person Filter window has opened you can adjust any or all of the filter fields to include or exclude exactly the Person nodes you want. Person nodes are different from Company nodes and Investor nodes because these 'type' and 'status' designations do not apply to node itself as much as they apply to the link between the node and a company. If a company is inactive, then that is a permanent attribute of the company. However, if a Person is a former board member, that is an attribute of the Person's connection to a specific company, not a permanent attribute of the node with respect to its connections to every company node. For example, a Person can have current connections to one company and former connections to another, so that node cannot be designated permanently in one way or another. So when you filter out the current management team connections, a particular Person who is a on the management team for one company and on the board for another will remain in network because of his board connection, but his link to the company whose management team he is on will be removed.

Company Filter Details
Company Attributes
Board Type
»
A person can sit on the board of a company in different capacities - as an Outside Boad Member, an Advisory Board Member, or a Board Observer. Check or uncheck these boxes to include or exclude the different types of Board Members from the network.
Board Status
»
A Person can be a current board member or former board member. To include or exclude board members by the status of their board positions, check or uncheck these boxes.
Mgmt. Status
»
A Person's position on the management team of a company can be either current or former. Check or uncheck these boxes to filter out management team connections by their status.
Person Name
»
Enter a Person's name (or multiple names separated by commas) in this field to exclude from the network any Person whose name does not match any of the entries.
Background
»
The background field for a Person contains information about former employers and affiliations with companies, as well as former teaching positions at colleges or universities. You can treat this as a keyword search to exclude the Person nodes in the network that do not have affiliations with your search terms.
Education
»
The Education field contains the names of the colleges or universities that the people attended as students. This can include undergraduate and graduate programs. Enter the name (or multiple names separated by commas) of an institute of higher education to filter out all Person nodes that did not attend that school. For example, enter "Stanford" to eliminate anyone from the network who did not attend Stanford University.
Mgmt. Title
»
There are innumerable different titles bestowed upon management team members. Think of how many different kinds of VPs you have heard of. There are also CEOs, COOs, CFOs, etc. Enter the titles or words contained in the titles to eliminate anyone from the map whose title does not contain those terms. For example, if you enter "VP marketing" in this field, only management team links to Person nodes whose title contains either the term VP or the word 'marketing' will be included in the network.
# of Boards
»
Limit the Board Member nodes according to how many total boards the Person has sat on. These may include former and current board positions.
# Current Boards
»
Use this field if you want to limit the Board Member nodes by the number of boards on which the person is currently serving.
