The Investor Filters allow you to select which investors you would like to include or exclude from your network according to many different attributes. Along with the Company Filters and Person Filters, these tools allow you to construct networks to address the specific questions and interests you have about a network of relationships. The Investor Filters are located on the taskbar above the map image and below the map tabs. In the image below, the Investor Filters link is highlighted with a red box. Click on that link and the Investor Filters screen will pop up.

Once the Investor Filter window has opened you can adjust any or all of the filter fields to include or exclude exactly the investors you want. The top section on the white background contains direct filters, which filter the investors according to their own attributes. The bottom section on the blue background contains Cross Filters which include or exclude investors according to the attributes of their investments (companies). All filter and cross filter fields can be used in alone or in combination. Visit the Search Fields page for more information about how creating limits and ranges in your search fields.

Investor Filter Details
Investor Attributes
Investor Type
»
There are three types of Investors (Corporate, Venture Capital, & Individual). You can choose which of these types ot include or exclude from the network by unchecking these boxes. The default setting is to have all of the boxes checked - all types included.
# of Investments
»
Filter the Investors according to how many total investments they have made. For example, search for small investors with less than 15 investments by entering "-15" in this field.

Cross Filters - Company Attributes
Use the Cross Filters if you want to include or exclude investors according to what kind of investments they have made. First you must select how many (or what percentage) of each investor's companies must match the attributes that you set.
# or % Matching
»
In order to use the Cross Filters you must set what number or percentage of a given investor's companies must match the Company attributes that you set in fields # 4 through 12. If you want to use percentage, then put % after the number in this field. If you enter "20%" in the field, then 20% of an investor's companies must match your Cross Filter attributes in order to be included in the network. For a more detailed description of Cross Filters, click here.
Company Type
»
Limit the investors included in the network according to what company types they have invested in. If you enter "5" in field # 3 and uncheck the boxes for Private and Public types, then an Investor must have invested in at least 5 acquired companies in order to be included in the network.
Company Status
»
Limit the investors included in the network according to the status of the companies they have invested in. If you enter a "5" in field # 3 and check only the box for 'inactive' then an investor must have invested into at least 5 inactive companies in order to be included in the network. You can use this in conjunction with the Company Type Cross Filter (field # 4 - or any other Cross Filter field) for example, to require that an Investor have invested into at least 5 inactive acquired companies to be included.
Company Sector
»
Limit the investors included in the network according to the sectors of the companies they invested in. Select one or more of the sectors by highlighting them and, for example, if you enter a "5" in field # 3 and highlight 'Biotech' then an investor must have invested in at least 5 companies in the Biotech sector to be included in the network.
# of Investors
»
Limit the investors included in the network according to how many investors their investments have. This may sound confusing, but it makes sense. Let's say you have a network up on the screen. You can then open the Investor filters and enter "5" in field # 3, and then enter "20-" in this field. This will exclude any investor that does not have at least 5 investments into companies with 20 or more Investors.
Rds. of Capital
»
Limit the investors included in the network according to the number of rounds of capital raised by their investments. For example, if you enter a "5" in field # 3 and enter "4-6" in this field, then only Investors with at least 5 investments into companies that have raised 4-6 rounds of capital will be included in the network.
Total Capital
»
Limit the investors included in the network according to the total amount of capital raised by their investments (in millions of $US). For example, if you enter "5" in field # 3, and then enter "200-" in this field, only Investors with at least 5 investments that have raised $200 million or more will be included in the network.
Start Year
»
Limit the investors included in the network according to the Start Year of their investments. For example, if you enter "5" in field # 3, and then enter "2002" in this field, only Investors with at least 5 investments into companies that were started in 2002 will be included in the network.
Date Last Funded
»
Limit the investors included in the network according to the date of the last funding event of their investments. For example, if you enter "5" in field # 3, and then enter "12/17/2004" in this field, then only Investors with at least 5 investments that have raised capital since December 17, 2004.
Keyword
»
Limit the investors included in the network according to keywords found in the company descriptions of their investments. If you enter "5" in field # 3, and then enter "internet, wireless" in this field, then only Investors with at least 5 investments that have either the word 'internet' or 'wireless' in their descriptions will be included.
