The Company Filters allow you to select which companies you would like to include or exclude from your network according to many different attributes. Along with the Investor Filters and Person Filters, these tools allow you to construct networks to address the specific questions and interests you have about a network of relationships. The Company Filters are located on the taskbar above the map image and below the map tabs. In the image below, the Company Filters link is highlighted with a red box. Click on that link and the Company Filters screen will pop up.

Once the Company Filter window has opened you can adjust any or all of the filter fields to include or exclude exactly the companies you want. The top section on the white background contains direct filters, which filter the companies according to their attributes. The bottom section on the blue background contains Cross Filters which include or exclude companies according to the attributes of their investors. All filter and cross filter fields can be used in alone or in combination. Visit the Search Fields page for more information about how creating limits and ranges in your search fields.

»
Companies in the LinkSV database are assigned a sector, like 'Biotech,' 'Communications,' 'Internet,' 'Computers,' or 'Semiconductors.' Select one or multiple sectors by highlighting them (hold down the 'Ctrl' key to highlight multiple sectors) and all companies in the network that are not in those sectors will be excluded from the displayed map.

Rounds of Capital
»
Limit the companies included in the network by the number of rounds of financing that they have raised. Select for less than 3 rounds raised to see the early stage companies of the network, or select for 5 rounds or more to see the late stage companies.

Keyword
»
Limit the companies included in the network by keywords found in their company descriptions. You can enter multiple keywords separated by commas. For example, enter 'wireless, internet' and only companies with either the words wireless or internet in their descriptions will be included.

Cross Filters - Investor Attributes
Use the Cross Filters if you want to exclude companies according to what kind of investors have invested into them. First you must select how many (or what percentage) of each company's investors must match the attributes that you set.
# or % Matching
»
In order to use the Cross Filters you must set what number or percentage of a given company's investors must match the Investor attributes that you set in fields # 11 and 12. If you want to use percentage, then put % after the number in this field. If you enter "20%" in the field, then 20% of a company's investors must match your Cross Filter attributes in order to be included in the network. For a more detailed description of Cross Filters, click here.
Investor Type
»
You can select from the three types of Investors to set your Cross Filter. For example, if you enter "20%" in field #`10 and uncheck "Venture Capital" and "Corporate" in this field, then you are requesting that the network only include those companies for which Individual Investors constitute at least 20% of their Investors.
# of Investments
»
You can specify the number of investments made by an Investor as another way to use the Cross Filters. For example, if you enter "20%" in field # 10 and then enter "200-250" in this field, then you are requesting that the network only include those companies for which 20% of thier Investors have made 200 to 250 total investments. Basically you are creating a network around companies that have a significant percentage of Investors that are very large. A company that has many mid-size Investors would be excluded if it had no Investors with between 200 and 250 investments.
