This is the Board Map for the combined network of Ram Shriram as both an investor and a board member, and John Doerr and Michael Moritz as board members. You can see the Target Nodes in the network; they are the enlarged pink and yellow ovals with thick borders. This map shows the board interlock structure in the combined network of the portfolios of these players. The former board relationships are included.

This map is close to representing the Silicon Valley component of the 2006 Forbes Midas List, and probably represents a good portion of the 2007 list as well (although this is being written about 2 weeks before the new list is due out). It is easy to see the centrality and importance of Google to the structure of this network, and Tim Koogle is surprisingly involved for someone with relatively few overall relationships, but that's because all of his connections are related to this particular network. He has very good relationship capital, with a small number of highly valuable connections.
